You are not just in Morocco for the 90 minutes of football. You are here for the 22 hours in between.
The “Yalla” app gives you a match schedule, but it doesn’t tell you how to fit a visit to the Hassan II Mosque between a 1:00 PM kickoff in Casablanca and an 8:00 PM match in Rabat.
This 7-Day Itinerary is designed for the “Super Fan” who wants to hit the biggest matches in the “Northern Corridor” (Casablanca-Rabat-Tangier) while seeing the real Morocco.
The Strategy: Base yourself in the North for 3 days (easy train access), then move South to Marrakech.
The Logistics: Speed vs. Scenic
- Days 1–3: High-Speed Rail Zone. You will use the Al Boraq train to bounce between Tangier, Rabat, and Casablanca. It is fast, reliable, and cheap.
- Days 4–7: Classic Rail & Road. Moving south to Marrakech takes longer. The “Al Atlas” train is slower but beautiful.
Pre-Trip Checklist:
- Connectivity: Do not land without data. You need Google Maps to find the stadium.
- Transport: Book your inter-city trip now.
Day 1: Casablanca – The Opening Whistle

The Vibe: Chaos, energy, and Art Deco architecture.
- Morning (09:00 AM): Visit the Hassan II Mosque. It is one of the only mosques in Morocco non-Muslims can enter. It is built over the ocean. The tour takes 45 minutes—perfect for a match day.
- Lunch: Head to Rick’s Café (yes, from the movie) or grab a quick sandwich in the Maârif district near the stadium.
- Match Day:Stade Mohammed V.
- Transport: Take the T1 Tramway to the “Wafasalaf” stop. Do NOT drive.
- Dinner: Corniche Ain Diab. Seafood with a view of the Atlantic.
Day 2: Rabat – The Imperial Capital
Travel: 55 mins from Casablanca via Al Boraq Train.
The Vibe: Organized, clean, and historic.
- Morning: Walk through the Kasbah of the Udayas. It’s a fortress with blue and white walls (like Chefchaouen but closer). Drink mint tea at Café Maure overlooking the river.
- Afternoon: Visit the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. They are right next to each other and free to enter.
- Match Day:Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
- Transport: Train to Rabat Agdal station, then a blue Petit Taxi (20 MAD).
- Pro Tip: If you are staying in Casablanca, you can take the train back after the match. The last trains run late.
Day 3: Tangier – The Gateway to Europe
Travel: 1h 20m from Rabat via Al Boraq Train.
The Vibe: Mediterranean, breezy, and artistic.
- Morning: Head straight to Cap Spartel (where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean) and the Caves of Hercules. You need a “Grand Taxi” for this (negotiate the round trip price, approx 150-200 MAD).
- Lunch: Seafood paella in the Medina. The Spanish influence here is strong.
- Match Day: Ibn Batouta Stadium (Grand Stade de Tanger). This is a massive 75k seater. The atmosphere is electric.
- Night: Return to Casablanca/Rabat by high-speed train or stay in a boutique hotel in the Kasbah.
Day 4: The Great Migration South
Travel: 2h 40m via Al Atlas Train (Casablanca to Marrakech).
- The Journey: Today is a travel day. The landscape changes from green coast to red earth.
- Upgrade Alert: Spend the extra $10 for First Class on this train. You get a reserved seat. In Second Class, you might stand.
- Arrival: You arrive in Marrakech. Check into your Riad in the Medina.
- Warning: Riads are hard to find. Book a Private Transfer so the driver walks you to your door.
Days 5–6: Marrakech – The Red City

The Vibe: Sensory overload.
- Sightseeing (Between Matches):
- Jemaa el-Fnaa: The main square. Go at sunset.
- Majorelle Garden: Yves Saint Laurent’s famous blue garden. Book tickets online 2 weeks in advance or you won’t get in.
- Bahia Palace: Stunning mosaic work.
- Match Day:Grand Stade de Marrakech.
- Transport: This stadium is far from the center (10km). Book an inDrive early or arrange a round-trip driver. Taxis will refuse to use meters on match nights.
Day 7: Choose Your Adventure
Option A: The Beach (Agadir)
- Travel: 3 hours by Bus (CTM/Supratours).
- Why: You need to relax. Agadir is pure beach resort vibes. Great for surfing and seafood.
- Match: Grand Stade d’Agadir.
Option B: The Culture (Fes)
- Travel: Train from Marrakech (6 hours) or fly.
- Why: The world’s largest car-free urban zone. Ancient, intense, and spiritual.
- Match: Complexe Sportif de Fès.
Summary Table: Travel Times & Costs
| Route | Mode | Time | Cost (Est.) |
| Casablanca ➡ Rabat | Al Boraq Train | 55 Min | $8 |
| Rabat ➡ Tangier | Al Boraq Train | 1h 20m | $15 |
| Casablanca ➡ Marrakech | Al Atlas Train | 2h 40m | $18 (1st Class) |
| Marrakech ➡ Agadir | CTM Bus | 3h 15m | $12 |
“Yalla Gap” Final Advice
Don’t try to do everything. Morocco is bigger than it looks. If you have tickets for matches in Tangier and Agadir on back-to-back days, you will spend your whole trip on a bus. Pick a region (North or South) and stick to it for 3-4 days.
